At the south end of the beach is Barra de Potosi, a Mexican village that has not undergone the usual gentrification. The lagoon is great for kayaking and you can lunch on fresh fish and cold beers. Your pesos go far in this rustic village.  It's easy to get lost in the mangroves so I highly recommend booking a tour with the very charming Lucio Rodrigues.
